Shirley Parsons is a global professional services firm that provides EHS, Sustainability and Quality expertise to clients across every industry vertical. We partner with customers to assess, develop and deliver their programs, whilst also identifying internal talent for their organizations.

In North America, we employ more than 50 staff and maintain offices in Boston, Los Angeles and Toronto, with employees working remotely in over 20 states and provinces. Since our UK launch in 2005, we have worked with thousands of clients across 6 continents, entering new markets in Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.

SUMMARY

We are seeking a Director of Consulting to join our mission to build a safe and sustainable future. This individual will be focused on developing Shirely Parsons’ consulting services business in North America, with key accountabilities for:

a) Value Creation: developing our consulting service offerings and team.

b) Marketing & Sales: attracting prospective customers and converting commercial opportunities.

c) Service Delivery: ensuring we consistently deliver against client commitments.

d) Financial Performance: achieving growth and profitability goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Value Creation:

  • Assist with the development of internal business strategy, building on existing service offerings and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Partner with our recruitment business to build a team of EHS and sustainability consultants, taking responsibility for their growth and development.

 

Marketing & Sales:

  • Partner with our internal marketing team to develop and execute a plan for building awareness of consulting services, personally contributing through online media and in-person events.
  • Develop new and existing client accounts, capitalizing on international relationships and generating a sales pipeline of prospective assignments.
  • Prepare and submit proposals and contracts to convert leads into active commercial projects.

 

Service Delivery:

  • Partner with our staffing team to identify temporary resources for selected assignments.
  • Provide oversight and direction on key accounts, managing consultants throughout projects.
  • Work as a subject matter expert, conducting fee-earning work when necessary.
  • Gain positive client feedback, resulting in referrals and endorsements.
  • Continually improve internal systems and processes.

 

Financial Performance:

  • Achieve ambitious year-on-year revenue growth targets.
  • Ensure profitability of individual projects and the consulting services business as a whole.

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 10 years of operational leadership experience within an EHS consulting practice.
  • Prior experience of marketing, converting and delivering on EHS consulting opportunities.
  • Prior experience of building, managing and developing teams of EHS consultants.
  • A degree and relevant EHS certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHST, OHST, OSHA 500, etc.).
  • An ability to travel up to 30% (proximity to major airport, driving license, passport, etc.).
  • An eye for detail, excellent relationship-building skills, and a desire to deliver quality work.
