About Fokker Next Gen

Fokker Next Gen's mission is to drive innovation in the aviation industry by pioneering the integration of emission-free propulsion and enabling technologies, in order to foster a clean and sustainable future for air travel. They are developing a clean sheet regional hydrogen combustion airliner for 120-150 passengers with a planned entry into service (EIS) of 2035. While the aircraft is designed to primarily fly on liquid hydrogen, they are designing a dual fuel system so that the aircraft will also be able to fly on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and/or kerosene. Fokker Next Gen is on track to become a lean and state-of-the-art commercial aircraft manufacturer, leveraging their 100+ years of brand history in combination with the best that technology has to offer today.


You will lead a group of both young and highly experienced engineers for the development of liquid hydrogen storage and distribution fuel systems fully integrated in the Fokker F100 aircraft and to the modified engine
You will own the relationships with relevant suppliers providing designs and components in accordance with Fokker Next Gen requirements
You will set the ground rules and choose the suppliers to perform the ground testing and operational testing of the hydrogen fuel system
You will help to organize project milestones to achieve a flying demonstrator by 2027
You will have to provide reports to the project management
You will have to review reports coming from the team and the suppliers


Experienced fuel system engineer
10+ years' experience at an aircraft OEM
Aeronautical engineering degree
You are a strong team player, keen to both learn and teach, with the ability to learn fast
Excited about being part of an innovative company aiming to achieve zero CO2 emission flight
Able to work fluently in English
Some experience with hydrogen fuel preferred

What is Project HOT?

Project HOT aims to convert a Fokker 100 to run on liquid hydrogen fuel, with the capability to also fly on SAF and/or kerosene, with a flying technology demonstrator projected for 2027. Fokker Next Gen has been awarded EUR 25 million by the Dutch Growth Fund in the Netherlands to make this happen, which was granted as part of the Aviation in Transition Program (Luuchtvaart in Transitie).
